About the artist: George Turner was a well known English landscape artist from Derbyshire, England. He was a self-taught artist who became a professional painter and teacher. Turner worked in oil and painted scenes mainly in his beloved Derbyshire. His work was exhibited throughout England and 22 of his paintings are in the National collections of the United Kingdom. He has been nicknamed "Derbyshire's John Constable"
