Mason book The Costume of China c. 1804. Pu Qua, who was a famous Chinese artist during the late 18th century, specialized in water colors featuring Chinese laborers. During his travels to China, G.H. Mason collected works made by many of the artist working for Pu Qua. Upon his return to England, G.H. Mason created 60 copper engravings from his collection of Pu Qua's works and published the works in the book The Costume of China.
