Each Bread and Butter Plate features scallop shaped edges with beautiful mauve and teal fruit and floral patterns surrounding interior of fruits and florals with a butterfly. In 1759, Josiah Wedgewood, a successful and skilled potter, founded Wedgewood in England. Josiah Wedgewood invented Queen's Ware in 1767, originally called cream ware it was soon named Queen's Ware at the command of Queen Charlotte of England whose admiration for Wedgewood's work was further expressed when she named him "Potter to Her Majesty." Wedgewood was licensed by Colonial Williamsburg to replicate antiques found in its collection, the traditions of excellence established by Josiah Wedgewood were carried on by his descendants, who work, skill and integrity are reflected in these licensed pieces. The Potpourri pattern features rich fruit and flower patterns taken from an antique fabric found in the Colonial Williamsburg Collection
